December 2016
I ended my 4 month Australia adventure a bit early. Had seen what I wanted to see and did much of what I wanted to do. Would to have liked spending more time with Aboriginals, Elders. The young ones are talkative but didn't always know the answers and would politely say " Elders still need to tell me that".
The guides I hired were very knowledgeable. Two of them experienced the attempts of the Whitefellas to acclimate Aboriginal Children to the Whitefellas culture. i.e. Taking the children from their families to be brought up / grow up in the population centers and schools on the East coast.
A mistake well recognized by Aussie Gov.

I kicked around Canberra for a couple days visiting museums. The War Museum was worth the trip by itself. Being a science buff I spent a few hours at the Science and Technology center. Also stopped at anything that hinted at Aboriginal Culture.
Going back to Caravan Park evenings was an adventure as the kangaroos herds were out and about.
Once I saw a huge one to the side of several smaller ones. Quickly figuring the big guy had a harem.

Headed back to Sydney to prepare to return home. Returned my cleaned up van to the dealer and was surprised he gave $2500 for it. $2000.00 for 4 months of transportation and sometimes motel is a pretty good deal.
Made necessary changes to airline ticket. Said goodbye to all the people I met at the dealership.
An employee at the dealership, Mick, gave me a ride to Sydney airport when he got off work, about midnight. It was a memorable 55 km trip.
Just before getting on the freeway Mick informed me his vision was bad and I would have read the signs getting us to the airport.
I secured my seatbelt a little tighter.
